Duties & Responsibilities

The building official is responsible for the health, safety, and welfare of the general public. The building official performs duties such as:  building inspections, plan review, certificates of occupancy, code enforcement and ensuring compliance with State and local building codes.

He is also charged with the administration, interpretation, and enforcement of concurrency, building, flood control, coastal construction, coastal setback regulation, landscaping and trees and environmentally sensitive lands, as set forth in the Land Development Code.
