Town Clerk Duties & Responsibilities

The Town Clerk shall give notice of the meetings of the Town council, the Planning and Zoning Board and the Board of Adjustment; shall keep the minutes of its proceedings; shall be custodian of the Town's seal; shall authenticate by his/her signature and shall record in full in books kept for that purpose all ordinances and resolutions passed by the Town council; shall have the power to administer oaths.  Furthermore, the Clerk shall be:  Clerk of the Council and shall keep the Council journal; Clerk of the Planning and Zoning Board and the Board of Adjustment and shall keep the Planning and Zoning journal and the Board of Adjustment journal, custodian of ordinances, resolutions, and such other official records as the Council may prescribe; maintains custody of the Town’s official seal; affixes seal on all official documents as necessary; attestor to contracts, bonds, and other instruments as may be prescribed by law; chief registration and elections officer of the Town; serves as secretary for the Code Enforcement Officer; is the Records Management Liaison Office (RMLO); provides response to public records and information requests received from the public, staff, other agencies and interested parties as provided by State Statute; performs notary services and is responsible for other duties so prescribed by the Mayor.


Administrative Assistant Duties & Responsibilities

The Administrative Assistant is responsible for providing secretarial and clerical assistance to the Mayor, Town Clerk and Building Department;  answers the telephone and provides the public with information, directs calls to the proper department; maintains filing for the Mayor, Town Clerk; maintains inventory; maintains meeting calendar for public information; assists the Building Official; maintains a data base with building permit, and building inspection records; issues and maintains records for all business tax receipts; assists the Town Clerk in maintaining public records as required by law; performs notary services; and performs other duties as may be assigned by the Mayor and the Town Clerk.
